Blogging Burn Out

So, it looks like I only lasted about 5 months as a blogger. If you haven't noticed, my posts have been getting shorter and fewer over the past couple of weeks. I'm afraid I have blogging burn out. I am taking a blogging hiatus for awhile or forever, I'm not sure yet. I will send out a notice if I decide to resume blogging. I leave you with this, my last post...


William has started rolling over from his back to his stomach, it's really cute. He loves to take naps on his stomach now. I kept trying to roll him over back onto his back, but he would just flip over to his stomach. He has also started sitting up on his own and LOVES to jump in his jumparoo. He gets some serious air when he really gets bouncing. He has also started trying to crawl, which still needs some work. We will go to the pediatrician in a few weeks for his 6 month check up.

Jonathan went to the doctor last Friday. His right knee has been giving out on him, so they wanted to make sure the muscles were stable. Everything checked out, but they went ahead and did an MRI on Tuesday. We should have the results from the MRI next week. Jonathan is still scheduled to have surgery on July 8th to get the screw out of his right leg which should relieve a lot of the pain in that leg.

We are going to Rockport this weekend, it will be Jonathan's first time back on a boat since the accident. I think I'll make him wear a few life jackets and tie himself down to his seat. ;) It will also be William's first boat trip, so we'll have to see how he likes it.

This summer we will try to get down to Rockport a bunch and then we will go to Minnesota at the end of August. My sister and I, along with all the kids, will go for almost two weeks. Then the guys will come up over Labor Day. My mom and Tom have a beautiful lake house/cabin on Pelican Lake in Minnesota.

We've been through a lot over the past few months and I just wanted to thank everyone for taking such a personal interest in our little family. We have been overwhelmed with prayers and support. Now Jonathan literally knows the meaning of the old saying...What doesn't kill you, can only make you stronger.

"And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever." - 1 Peter 5:10

5 Months

William was 5 months old on Sunday. His favorite past times include sitting and standing (with assistance), patting everything in reach and putting everything in his mouth, jumping in his Rainforest jumparoo and eating rice cereal. We are still having some issues with sleeping through the night. Saturday night I quit feeding him at 3am, instead Jonathan goes in and gives him a paci.

He has such a sweet demeanor and is truly a happy little guy, I hope it lasts forever. ;)

"Burning Some Meat"

Saturday Jonathan's friend and former Wrigley co-worker, Ben Morales, came over to grill some authentic Mexican food or as Ben says...burn some meat. They went to La Michoacana (mexican super market) to buy all of the food. It was wonderful! The fajitas were outstanding, better than any mexican restaurant I've been to. I hope Jonathan took notes!

Austin or Bust

Last night I got home from a little trip to Austin. My grandmother, Mimi, flew in from Dallas Sunday afternoon. Monday morning my mom, Mimi, William and myself all drove up to Austin to my sister's house. This was Mimi's first time to see William and Camryn and her first time back in Austin since my mom graduated from UT 40 years ago.

We also went to celebrate Loren's 3rd birthday. We had a pizza party Monday night, Loren ate her gluten free pizza and then we all had gluten free brownies (Loren has Celiac disease - she can't eat wheat gluten) and ice cream. The brownies were pretty good, I couldn't really tell the difference.

Tuesday we drove Mimi around Austin and had lunch at Ranch 616 which was really good. We came back Wednesday after lunch at the Oasis. William was so excited when he saw Jonathan and his own room. William would be real quiet around all the girls and then chatter away when he was by himself. Loren was especially fond of baby William, always wanting to play with him and help me take care of him.

Jonathan Can Walk Party

This past weekend we had a bunch of old friends, mostly from high school and college, come in town for a little get together to celebrate Jonathan's recovery. We all met at a restaurant/bar in midtown for dinner and drinks, then went out afterwards. It was great seeing everyone, most of the people had not seen Jonathan since the accident. I forgot my camera again, so I don't have any pictures to share. :(

Sunday we met up with some of the group at Buffalo Grill in town for brunch before everyone went home. This was also the first time for some them to meet William. (see pictures below) William was so good at the restaurant. He definitely got overwhelmed a few times, but all in all he was his usual trooper self. To top off the weekend Jonathan went to the Astros game on Sunday with Cory and Carter. It was such a fun weekend and really meant a lot to us. We have some wonderful friends who went out of their way to come to H-town. (Barron won the award for longest distance, he came from Washington D.C.)

William Goes to Work

William and I drove into the Galleria today to visit my old office, Smith Barney, in Galleria Tower II. Last time we went to visit William was only about 8 weeks old, so he had a lot more personality this time. We met Kerry Beth (former co-worker) and her little boy Stephen who is only two weeks older than William at the office too. We paraded the babies around and then had lunch at Ninfa's with another co-worker Melinda. We had a great time seeing everyone. I've only been gone a little over four months, but it seems like it's been forever. I'm so mad I forgot to take pictures again, hopefully I will remember next time.

Rice Cereal

I gave William rice cereal this morning for the first time. He spit out most of it, which I expected. We will try again tomorrow morning!

On a side note...I bought William a 4th of July outfit when I was pregnant. The size was 9 months, so I thought it would be perfect. Well, here he is in the outfit...

It looks like I will have to find him something else to wear for the 4th. At least the outfit doesn't say "God Bless America" or anything.

Wild Weekend

William and I went in town Thursday to have dinner at my friend Angie's house with my college roommates...Megan, Ali, and Caroline. It was great catching up with everyone and William got a lot of attention, which he loves.

Saturday we celebrated Jonathan's dad's birthday at his parent's house with all of his family. Once again, William loved all of the attention and was quite the trooper.

Sunday we tried a new church that just started meeting at the elementary school right down the street from us. We usually drive in town to go to First Baptist, but we thought it might be nice to have a church literally 30 seconds away from the house. The service was good and they were way excited to have new visitors. It was then time to do yard work with the rest of the neighbors! Jonathan was out of control, he not only did the whole yard (I did pull some weeds) he also organized the garage and helped one of our neighbors with a tree in his yard. It was just another wild weekend in the suburbs! :)

Jonathan Update

Jonathan went to the doctor this morning for a follow up appointment. The doctor said overall everything looked good. He said the bone growth in the right leg was coming along really well, but he had hoped to see more bone growth in the left leg. The doctor said it will be about six months before J's pain really starts to go away (the answer to everything and our family moto for 2008...It is what it is). He also said he did not think Jonathan had enough hardware to beep at airports, but we won't know for sure until J flies again. Jonathan is bringing home copies of the X-Rays from his appointment today, so I'm anxious to see how it looks.

Jonathan is schedules for surgery on July 1st to have a few screws removed. Dr. Dickson will preform the outpatient procedure at Memorial Hermann that morning and J should be back at work the next day.

Things for our family are getting back to normal faster than I could have ever imagined. Jonathan is back at work doing everything he was before the accident. I know I've said it a hundred times, but we feel so incredibly blessed. I thank God every day for normal days and find myself thinking about all the people that are going through what our family went through. Anyways, please continue to keep Jonathan and his upcoming surgery in your prayers.
