Mother's Day Weekend

I want to give a special thanks to Jonathan for a wonderful Mother's Day. He went above and beyond to make it a great weekend for me! It started out a little rough when I came down with food poising Thursday night, but luckily I felt better by Friday evening. Jonathan has been such a trooper taking care of the boys and letting me get some extra rest this weekend.

He also gave me some beautiful flowers, a balloon, a card, presents, cooked breakfast and cleaned the house. Sunday we went to church where William made me a sweet bookmark that he was very proud of and then we had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Elite Cafe.

This was the first Mother's Day where William has really understood what was going on. He came running in the bedroom this morning yelling "Happy Mother's Day" and gave me a big kiss and hug. I feel so extremely blessed to have healthy, sweet, joyful children and an equally great husband to boot.

It wouldn't be a proper Mother's Day blog entry without lots of pictures of the boys, so here you go...

Poison Control

Last week we had a little family of sparrows that set up shop on our front porch and started building a giant nest right by our front door. They are very mean birds and would swoop down trying to peck us if we went out there. I heard from a neighbor that you can put mothballs by their nest to get rid of them, so I went to Lowe's and bought a box.

I had Jonathan go out there with a ladder and put mothballs on the front and back porch. The next day Jonathan started to feel sick. He thought it was just a stomach bug, but the rest of us felt fine. He could barely eat and felt extremely weak. He left for a meeting after lunch and looked like death. I was really starting to worry about him when it hit me, the mothballs are making Jonathan sick. I'm sure it was divine intervention!

I looked on the Internet and Jonathan had all the symptoms of mothball poising. I called Poison Control and they told me to take Jonathan to the doctor if he didn't start feeling better in 24 hours. It turns out the poison they use in mothballs is highly toxic and Jonathan is obviously very sensitive or allergic to it. He got extremely sick that night...fever, chills, body aches, etc. I asked him multiple times if he wanted to go to the emergency room, but he wanted to wait until the morning. Praise the Lord, he finally started to feel better the next morning and was 100% after a few days. He keeps telling people that I tried to poison him. I just tell him to let this serve as a warning to never cross me! :)

The mothballs are gone and we ended up dealing with the sparrows Jonathan's way....a bebe gun. Jonathan is very proud of himself, he shot each Sparrow through a crack in the front door and I quote, "smoked them" with one bebe each. All is well again, no sparrows and Jonathan survived the mothball poison.

Logan is 4 months old

Logan was 4 months old last week. He received a clean bill of health from the pediatrician and I will probably start him on rice cereal this week. It's crazy to think that it's already time to brush off the highchair. We also cleaned up the ExerSaucer, which he loves.

Logan is still not a very good sleeper, any little thing will wake him up and then he has a hard time going back to sleep. I'm hoping he gets better in the next couple of months. He also adores William and squeales with delight when he sees him. William seems to love him too and constantly wants to hold him and help take care of him. Logan is very smiley now and loves to talk and coo.

He also started rolling over from his back to his stomach a few weeks ago and can sometimes do a full roll. I'm looking forward to the next couple of months when he will start to sit on his own, crawl and hopefully sleep better!

William's 1st Aggie Game

Jonathan took William to his first Texas A&M baseball game a couple of weeks ago. William had a blast, he especially loved all the music and fanfare. Jonathan said William kept asking him when it was his turn to hit the ball. If you ask William about the game he will enthusiastically tell you that he saw the guys hit the ball WAY UP in the sky!! He will also tell you that A&M won when in fact they lost to Baylor. :(

I'm sure this will be the first of many Texas A&M games for the boys! We have to start planting the A&M seeds early.

Happy Easter! We went to Houston Saturday and came back Sunday. We jam packed a bunch of holiday celebration into two days. We stayed at my sister's house Saturday night. We dyed eggs, had an egg hunt, had dinner with my dad and grandmother, the Easter Bunny came, we went to church, had lunch at my mom's house and then another egg hunt at Jonathan's parents house before driving home. We have more candy than we know what to do with. It was a lot of fun and William loved every minute.

Easter Carnival

This past Sunday I took the boys to our neighborhood Easter Carnival. Jonathan was in Florida for the Astros spring training camp. As luck would have it, I got really sick the day he left. I have actually been sick pretty much the whole month of March. I had strep throat (I know I picked it up at the pediatrician's office) which caused me to get pink eye. Then a few days after finishing my antibiotics it all came back worse than the first time. I got the pink eye again which turned into strep throat. I had to haul the boys with me to the doctor's office on Friday in order to get another round of antibiotics. If I get all of this a third time I am going to really lose it! I did muster up enough energy to take William to the Easter Carnival for an hour. He had a great time and especially LOVED the bouncy house. Praise the Lord that Jonathan is back now and I am slowly starting to feel better.

On a side note: Jonathan had a lot of fun on his trip. He went to Universal Studios one afternoon, watched two Astros games and came back with a ball signed by a bunch of players. The only ones I had heard of were.... Lance Berkman, Carlos Lee, Milo Hamilton and Wandy Rodriguez.

School Pictures

William had spring school pictures taken at Mother's Day Out a few weeks ago and on Tuesday they gave me the proofs. Usually I am very anti props and cheesy backgrounds, but the school pictures just crack me up. I think it's hilarious how they pose him.

I bought one sheet of this picture (below), I couldn't resist...

Here is the school picture I bought this past October. I sent him to school with a big mosquito bite by his eye and told them not to worry about getting his picture done, but they did it anyways. It made me laugh so hard I had to buy it. I love how he looks like he is about to hike through the Smokey Mountains. It all looks so fake and like something out of the 80's. It was too classic to pass up...
