Happy, Happy Birthday Nannie!!

Today we went to my cousin's house to celebrate my grandmother's 91st birthday. That's right, I said 91! I hope I have the Nannie gene, she is so amazing. She is still sharp as a tack, drives her own car, knows how to use a computer, reads Vanity Fair and People magazine, lives in her own house, has a dog...I could go on and on. My cousin Jerry's wife gave birth to Nannie's 9th great-grandchild this summer. So, here's to you Nannie...Happy Birthday!

Surgery #4

Jonathan went to the doctor today to schedule his next surgery. They will be taking the three screws out above his left knee and the other screw out above his right knee. The surgery is scheduled for December 9th and will be a day surgery. We're hoping after Jonathan recovers from this surgery he will be able to run a lot easier and maybe start playing basketball again.

I am so proud of Jonathan, he wakes up every morning at 5:30am to go work out before going to work. He's really trying to rebuild his leg muscles. Jonathan is always so positive when asked about his legs, you would never know that he still deals with all sorts of weird aches and pains every day. Please keep Jonathan's surgery in your prayers on December 9th and help us pray for complete and speedy healing. We are really hoping this surgery will be the end to a very, very long road!

Public Service Announcement

In case you didn't know, early voting started yesterday and will continue through next week. You can go to any polling place and all you need is your drivers license. A fun fact you probably didn't know about me...I am a big voting guru. I have voted in every election (President, Mayor, Governor, etc.) since I turned 18. I think it's so important and I think it's a great way to honor all the people that fought and died for our country.

William and I went to vote this morning at a polling location in Kingwood. William was a big hit, everyone wanted to talk to him and tell me about their grandchildren that were his age. I'm sure it's no surprise I am conservative all the way. I don't like to get into politics too much, but I will just say I am not a fan of Socialism and believe our country should stay true to the Christian principles it was founded on. I will get off my soap box now, but I do hope you all go vote!

11 Months

William was eleven months old today. It's hard to believe he will be a year old very soon. There really isn't a whole lot to report this month. He's doing the same things..cruising the furniture, babbling, walking with assistance, etc... he's just doing them all better. His favorite activity is definitely wrestling with Jonathan. It's really cute, but has led to some biting by William which we are trying to nip in the bud. A close second is swinging at the park. He cried today when I took him out of the swing.

This past weekend we baby proofed the cabinets with those annoying little latches. I tried to teach him not to open the cabinets, but that was a lost cause. I've also started letting him watch The Backyardigans (for those without kids, it's a cartoon) in the morning. He dances through the opening song and usually watches for about 2 minutes before he moves on to something else. He may not watch for very long, but he gets really excited when I put it on.

I'm probably going to have to trim the back of his hair pretty soon. It's starting to grow into a baby mullet. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, I think I just prefer a cleaner look. He's so much fun, we can't wait to see what the next few months have in store. Hopefully more walking and talking.

Summerwood Fall Festival

This afternoon we went to our neighborhood's Fall Festival. It was fun, we got to pick out a pumpkin, they had food, games, crafts, music, a hay ride and a train. William was a little young for some of the activities, but he did enjoy the train ride and just watching all the people.

William's New Trick

I just wanted to share some pictures of William's favorite toy right now. It's a little car you can sit on or convert to a walker. He loves pushing it all around the house and looks super cute with his little robot walk.

Knick Family Update

We survived Hurricane Ike, the picture above is William surveying the damage after the storm. We were without power for 16 days. We went to Rockport for a few days and then went to my mom's house for the majority of the time. It worked out perfectly because they were still in Minnesota, so we took over the whole house. My sister and her family were there too. It was so nice when we finally came home last Monday. Although I came down with some kind of cold/virus/allergy thing that I fought all last week, but am now feeling much better. I am looking forward to getting back into our little routine and just enjoying being home!

William turned 10 months old during our hurricane hiatus. He is pulling up on everything and constantly opening all of the cabinets. He also crawls everywhere and is a very busy bee. He loves to eat and likes pretty much everything I give him. He says Da-Da all of the time and sometimes Ma-Ma.


Jonathan went to the Texas A&M vs. Miami game a few weeks ago. Our friends Kim and Chris had two extra tickets so Chris invited Clay (brother-in-law) and Jonathan to the game. Excited doesn't even begin to describe Jonathan when he found out he had a ticket to the game. Clay is a member of the Letterman's Club, so they got to hang out in there before the game. It was a nice break for Jonathan from all the hurricane stuff.

Well, I think that hits all of the high points. We didn't have any damage from the hurricane, although it sounded like our house was getting ripped to shreds when it went over. We are just so glad to be home!
